Employment Waivers

The Employment Waiver grants eligible students in-state tuition when employed in an assistantship position at UNT. Assistantship is a paid academic appointment made to a student that involves part-time teaching or research.

Eligibility

Students who have met all Employment Waiver Criteria and have completed the Employment Waiver Checklist are eligible to receive the waiver.

Payment Timeline & Costs Covered

Employment Waivers will begin posting prior to the Registration Payment Deadline for eligible students who have completed the Employment Waiver Checklist.

The Employment Waiver covers statutory tuition for non-residents.

Employment Waivers for Tuition Benefit Program (TBP) Recipients

Non-resident TBP recipients not receiving an out-of-state tuition waiver will have an Employment Waiver processed on their behalf.

How to Apply & Application Deadline

Once employed in an eligible position, students may submit an Employment Waiver Request by the following dates each term:

  • Fall – August 1
  • Spring – December 20
